Description NCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27 Selection Process
Selection will be made purely on the basis of merit drawn from qualifying examination marks, followed by document scrutiny and a mandatory medical test. No written examination will be conducted by NCL for this recruitment.

Stage 1 – Merit List Preparation

For Graduate and Diploma positions, merit is drawn on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying Graduation/Diploma examination. For ITI Trade positions, merit is based on the average of passing percentage in Matriculation and the respective National/State Trade Certificate. Candidates are arranged in descending order of marks. In case of a tie, date of birth (older candidate preferred) and then alphabetical order of name will be applied.NCL application portal

Stage 2 – Document Scrutiny

Shortlisted candidates based on merit will be called to appear with all original certificates for scrutiny. Date and venue will be notified on nclcil.in and through NATS/NAPS portal or email. Failure to appear or produce valid documents within the stipulated date and time will result in cancellation of candidature.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Final offer for Apprenticeship Training is subject to clearing the Medical Test as per prescribed standards under the Mines Rules 1955. A fitness certificate from the medical officer of a Government Hospital (rank not less than Assistant Civil Surgeon) in the prescribed format (Annexure-3) must be produced. Who should NOT apply for NCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27?
Candidates who have already undergone Apprenticeship Training earlier or are currently pursuing Apprenticeship in any industry.
Candidates with 1 year or more of job experience.
Candidates who have passed their qualifying degree/diploma/ITI before June 2022.
Candidates who possess qualifications higher than the prescribed qualification for the applied discipline.
Candidates whose qualifying institution is not functional and operational in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh.
Candidates whose qualifications were obtained through Part-time, Correspondence, or Distance Learning mode.
OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer.
Candidates who submit multiple applications - multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
Candidates who are unable to produce a valid Medical Fitness certificate as per Mines Rules 1955.
Common mistakes / What to check before applying NCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27?
Not pre-registering on the NATS portal (for Graduate/Diploma) or NAPS portal (for Trade/ITI) before applying - without a valid Enrolment ID, the application cannot be completed.
Applying for more than one discipline - multiple applications will lead to disqualification of candidature.
Entering incorrect percentage/marks scored or maximum marks in the online form - candidature will be cancelled if found incorrect during scrutiny.
Not checking that the qualifying institution is functional and operational in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh.
Uploading blurred or unclear photograph or signature in black ink.
Not having an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least one year for future communication.
Rounding off the passing percentage - NCL will not consider rounding off (49.99% will be treated as less than 50%).
Not taking a printout of the finally submitted online application for future reference.
How to Apply for NCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27
Candidates must apply online only. Graduate and Diploma Apprentice candidates must first enrol on the NATS portal at https://nats.education.gov.in and Trade Apprentice candidates must enrol on the NAPS portal at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. After successful registration, a registration number (Enrolment ID) will be generated, following which the candidate must apply for the NCL positions through the respective portal.Diploma program information

Valid NATS/NAPS Enrolment ID (registration reference).
Scanned colour photograph and scanned signature in black ink (as per portal specifications).
Date of Birth as per Matriculation certificate.
Academic details - total marks scored and maximum marks in qualifying degree/diploma/ITI trade.
Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in prescribed format (Annexure-1), if applicable.
PwBD disability certificate as per Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules 2017 (Annexure-2), if applicable.
Address for correspondence and permanent address.

Important Instructions for NCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27 Candidates
Online applications are open from 01-06-2026 to 15-06-2026 through NATS/NAPS portals only.
A candidate may apply for any one notified position only - multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
Information pertaining to Date of Birth, Caste Category, and Qualification once entered in the online application shall be considered final - no alteration will be permitted at later stages.
Stipend for Graduate and Diploma Apprentices is inclusive of the Government of India share paid through DBT; Trade Apprentice stipend will be paid directly by NCL.
Stipend will be paid directly into the AADHAAR-linked bank account of the Apprenticeship Trainee as per the signed contract.
Apprenticeship Training is purely temporary and statutory in nature - it does not confer any right or claim for regular employment in NCL.
Apprentices are eligible for 11 days Casual Leave and 15 days Medical Leave per year of training.
Engagement hours are between 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Apprentices will be covered under the Workmen Compensation Act, 1923 for any accident during training.
No accommodation, fooding/lodging, or transport will be provided during the training period.
No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in document scrutiny or post-scrutiny processes.
Canvassing in any manner at any stage will lead to cancellation of candidature.
Any dispute will be subject to courts/tribunals of Singrauli, MP only.
